GDPR compliance

Following the introduction of the new GDPR law in May 2018, we wish to assure you that your privacy – and any information on you that AQUAretail holds – is totally safe and protected. We work diligently to ensure that the way we collect and store data is carefully done and meticulously managed.

As a recruitment business, AQUAretail has a very legitimate reason for holding your data. When you send your CV as part of your job search, you are granting us implicit permission to become a guardian of your private information. We then keep your contact details, salary and a copy of your CV so that we can assist in your job search in a smooth and efficient manner. That information is kept in two ways: within a computer, with a secure cloud-based firewall. And in paper format – such as where we have added notes to your CV when we’ve met – which is stored in a locked filing cabinet.

Once your job search is complete, we will retain your details for a period of 5 years. This is considered to be a reasonable period of time to allow us to assist with your job search again in the future – we’d hate for you to miss out on a great opportunity which ticked all the criteria you gave us! – and ensure we stay in touch. After that time has elapsed, any paper files will be destroyed, and technical files archived. Of course, should you wish to have your details erased earlier than that, just drop us an email and we’ll action it immediately.

Even before GDPR was introduced, we have never shared a candidate’s CV without their permission, and never will do. The relationship between AQUAretail and our candidates is one of strict confidentiality. There are many things shared in our conversations which remain totally private, and these would include things such as age, race, sexual orientation, disability or religion. Discrimination is illegal and is something we take very seriously.

AQUAretail is a member of the ICO (the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection) and adheres to their guidelines on data protection. Should you wish to express any concerns about how your information is being used by us, the policy is on their website – we would of course urge you to contact us first so we can reassure and settle the situation easily for you.
